How to See God When the Path Is Hidden

Life is filled with decisions. The path we journey on is not always clearly marked or a straight-forward route. I’ve had to navigate many forks in the road, and sometimes the path itself has been hard to see.

This morning in prayer the Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance a verse I memorised when I was young:

For this God is our God for ever and ever;
he will be our guide even to the end.
Psalm 48:14

I was encouraged by meditating on the truth that throughout my whole life, I have a personal guide with me. I never have to figure it out on my own.

Through God’s word, through his Holy Spirit, through the godly counsel he pours from others, and even in the night as I sleep, he is giving me what I need to discern his will and walk in his ways.

For those of you needing assurance in decisions you are navigating, I pray God’s word strengthens and encourages you in your pursuit of his will and ways.

I will bless the Lord who guides me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
Psalm 16:7

He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honour to his name.
Psalm 23:3

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.”
Psalm 32:8

You guide me with your counsel,
leading me to a glorious destiny.
Psalm 73:24

Your commands make me wiser than my enemies,
for they are my constant guide.
Psalm 119:98

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path.
Psalm 119:105

Guide my steps by your word,
so I will not be overcome by evil.
Psalm 119:33

I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave, you are there.
If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me,
and your strength will support me.
Psalm 139:7-10
